Honduran indigenous leader and environmentalist campaigner Berta Cáceres was shot dead at home by armed men on March 2nd 2016. Her case is emblematic, but it is one of over a hundred assassinations of environmentalist and indigenous leaders since the coup that ousted Mel Zelaya in 2009.
