Ibrahima Sory Bangoura (l) and Salifou Bangoura (r) both took part in the first trial vaccination for Ebola. There had been many Ebola-related deaths in the village, and their nephew and brother had died. The first trial was begun on March 23 in Bonfe village, Guinea.
The World Health Organisation is running phase III clinical trials for Ebola virus disease vaccine in Guinea. The technique being used is "ring vaccination" which was used in the 1970s to eradicate smallpox.
